One Donor's Story
I support Peaceful Remedies because I admire the mission and the drive and determination the staff has to keep the good work that Mary Gosek started going. The work they do.  Meaning, offering MANY resources for not only those diagnosed but also the caregivers.  It is very challenging to be a caretaker and to care for your loved one. I love the fact that Peaceful Remedies thinks about everyone affected when their loved one has a diagnosis (meaning caretakers, family members, children, etc.) I can only imagine the impact of the services that Peaceful Remedies has made on anyone in our community who has taken advantage of these services.  We ALL know someone who is battling some type of illness.  The resources Peaceful Remedies offers seems priceless. I am thrilled at all of the work done at Peaceful Remedies to ensure that Mary's legacy lives on.

Q & A

What is the organization's mission?
Peaceful Remedies' mission is to empower individuals affected by life altering illnesses and conditions in a community space that offers support groups, education, connections, and therapeutic intervention.  Peaceful Remedies is a warm, welcoming space for relaxation and rejuvenation where survivors, caregivers and family members can share their experiences and find support in each other.  We help individuals explore a variety of holistic health services through events, services and support groups.  A resource database is available for people to research the challenges and illnesses they are facing, as well as learn about community and national non-profit support.  By providing survivors and caregivers increased opportunities to educate themselves, access to complementary treatments and connections we lead each other to a place of strength, peace and happiness.
Will I receive a tax receipt?
You'll receive a complete tax statement every January.

Will I be updated about Peaceful Remedies?
You'll receive Monthly Updates via email, informational emails and annual newsletters.  In addition, please contact us at info@peacefulremediesoswego.com with any questions you have.

How do I change my monthly gift?
E
mail us at info@peacefulremediesoswego.com with your request.

How will my donation help?
The Oswego community and beyond has made it possible for all programs and services to be complimentary.  This is important as many facing mounting medical costs would not be able to make social connections and empower themselves outside of medical treatment.  We believe, as does research, that social connections and empowerment over a medical diagnosis is significant in the healing process.

What do you do with my donor information?

No one outside the organization has access to your information. We do not sell or give away personal information.

I represent a corporation, how can I help your organization?
Many companies match donations made by their employees.  This doubles a person's impact.  We are open to other ideas if you have one.

Progams   Services   &   Events   Supported

Here is a list of programs and services provided by Peaceful Remedies regularly. Your donation will ensure the continuation of providing these to those who have been diagnosed with a life altering illness and caregivers.

Reiki - a Japanese word pronounced (Ray-Key) which means Universal Life Force, an energy which is all around us. Reiki is a relaxation technique that can also aid and hasten healing on many levels. The practitioner uses a series of gentle hand placements on or over the physical body. Reiki helps to restore balance to mind, body and spirit therefore the experience of a Reiki session is different for each individual. Some of the benefits a receiver may experience are relaxation, management of pain, stress and anxiety, physical healing, an energy boost and comfort.

Polarity Therapy - a system of hands-on energy work with the body’s electromagnetic currents. A session can instill a deep relaxation response that can help to jump start our own ability to heal on many levels.  A session involves lying on a massage table while the practitioner uses different “holds” to reconnect the subtle currents for each individual.  The touch is generally light and there are many protocols used for individual situations and needs.  The practitioner remains in a neutral state intuiting a slight pulsation between the hands which means that the energy is now flowing more freely from point to point in the body.  This usually results in a feeling of relaxed vitality and a sense of balance and well-being for the receiver.

Cor Unum Yoga - (One Heart) Yoga welcomes all cancer survivors to practice the healing path of yoga in a safe, comfortable setting.  Individual instruction is provided to meet the needs of all.  Class includes breath work and poses designed to reduce stress, increase strength, increase flexibility, improve balance, and provide an experience for overall healing and wellness.

Pax Unum Yoga - (One Peace) Yoga welcomes those diagnosed with a life altering illness and caregivers to practice the healing path of yoga in a safe, comfortable setting.  Participants are led through a body and soul nourishing practice combining gentle yin and restorative poses, with the use of props, for stress relief and relaxation.  Instruction is individualized to meet the needs of all.

Circle Talk For Those Affected By Cancer  - This support group allows and encourages survivors and caregivers to speak from the heart in a safe place with respect allowing participants to speak and listen deeply.

Circle Talk For Those Affected By a Life Altering Condition - This support group is for anyone struggling with the negative impacts of a medical condition and their caregivers.  It offers people an opportunity to belong to a supportive community of individuals who are facing similar experiences.

Circle Talk for Men - A support group that welcomes men undergoing any life altering illness and their caregivers. This support group provides an opportunity for men to participate in a community of individuals who meet together and benefit by sharing thoughts, feelings, experiences and information in a safe environment.

Tai Chi -The ancient Chinese practices of Tai Chi and Qigong combine slow, deliberate movements, meditation, and breathing exercises.   Both are martial arts that can help your circulation, balance, and alignment. They can also help restore your energy.

Meditation and Relaxation - group provides relaxation techniques including mindfulness meditation and guided meditation to help slow the mind and body, reduce stress, reduce chronic pain, improve sleep, lower blood pressure and improve mental health.  Everyone is welcome to join this group. No prior experience needed

High Frequency Reiki Facial - This is a multi-faceted service including a beautiful facial with massage to help with circulation and hydration, a healing Reiki session, and a unique sound bath to further promote a relaxing and meditative experience.

Healing Sound Bath -  This experience offers a relaxing, rejuvenating, restful, healing experience.  A sound bath not only reduces stress and anxiety, but also has physiological benefits including a reduction in pain, better sleep, removal of toxins, and strengthening of immune systems.

Drums Alive - A seated drumming class done with drumsticks on a stability ball (large rubber balls). No musical or drumming experience is required, only a desire to move and have fun. Active people who are mentally, physically, emotionally and socially engaged experience independence, a longer life and enjoy a higher quality of life. Healthy for body, soul and spirit.

Connecting Hearts - This program links people with a life altering illness and caregivers to a peer volunteer in a sincere, compassionate space. This connection aims to offer a positive impact on health, wellness and healing from a peer who can relate to common experiences. There are opportunities to engage in services and programs at Peaceful Remedies. Participating may help you to connect with others, learn strategies to cope, reduce anxiety and stress related to a diagnosis, find comfort and support and help be aware of community resources. Connecting Hearts hopes to empower individuals to manage a diagnosis in a way that is best for them on their journey to health, wellness and healing.
